Sam Charlie, Adam & Elizabeth.

A quick trip to Alicante airport was needed to collect Samantha, Charlie and their children Adam and Elizabeth.  Samantha is Nigel’s daughter, and they were visiting us for just over a week, so a great family time was in store.

Weather forecasts can sometimes prove reliable, and this time was no exception.  Their second full day was the only day of their visit that was forecast to be cloudy, so a trip to Valencia City was planned – to visit the Oceanografic centre at the City of Arts and Sciences (Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias).  This proved to be a huge success – to call it an aquarium does it no credit at all.  Spread over a huge area, the Oceanografic has areas dedicated to marine life from all different parts of the globe, both on the surface as well as underground!  Some of the underground areas are linked together by glass tunnels which run through huge aquaria, so as you pass along, you are surrounded on all sides and above by the sea creatures – a spectacular sensation!

The rest of their stay was characterised by absolutely beautiful weather – hot sunshine all the way!  They were staying in our self-catering apartment, so made their own breakfast arrangements, but joined us for other meals in the main house.  Apart from the excursion to Valencia and a brief trip to Playa de Gandia, most of their time was spent relaxing in the gardens and cooling off in the pool – just what they wanted, and a great contrast to the weather they had left behind in England!

Sadly, their visit came to an end all too soon, so a return trip to Alicante airport saw them safely on to their flight home.  However, they had a great time, and it was wonderful to see them here again – no doubt they will come back again next summer, if not sooner!
