It was a busy weekend at Villa Florencia, with not only Dani’s birthday group staying with us, but also a full house of other guests too. As well as family members who normally live in New Zealand visiting us, we had one of the main performers at Gandia Beach Pride for the weekend with his manager, and also a Spanish couple who had come from Madrid. They had come in order to ‘visit’ a dog that they had spent a year ‘socialising’ as a puppy before it went to be trained as a guide dog. After finishing his training as a guide dog, he had been matched up with a man living in Gandia, and they had come to see him at work with his new owner.
The dog came to the house with his owner to see them first, and it was wonderful to see that the dog obviously remembered them fondly after all the time that had passed. Having been very pleasant and friendly with us at the gate, his tail looked like it was going to be wagged off in delight when he saw his visitors! Needless to say, they were thrilled to see him, and they spent the rest of the weekend on various visits to see the dog and his new, extended ‘family’.
Other guests over the weekend and the start of the following week included a young couple looking for a relaxing stay away from the bustle of Gandia, and a lawyer from Valencia, who also just wanted to get away from the stress and rush of the city and his work. Francisco in fact was also a guest from last year who had stayed here for a couple of days then, but, having got a taste for the place, was returning for a longer visit this time. He really felt the benefit of his relaxing time with us, and will almost certainly be coming back for more in the near future!
