Self-catering Holidays
At the beginning of this week the Stranks family arrived to stay in our self-catering apartment as a period of relaxation during a touring holiday of the country. They come from Canada, and have been touring around Spain, arriving to us from Granada, Cordoba, Cadiz and Seville. They then planned to drive on to Barcelona, but wanted to spend a few days in the tranquillity of our area catching up with some rest before the next round of  sightseeing! They particularly liked the concept of their family (they have 2 teenage daughters) being able to rent our apartment and look after themselves without having to consider meal and breakfast times that were not 100% of their own choosing, as well as catching up on clothes washing, etc – these things still have to be done for a family on the road, even if it is a vacation!! The fact that the apartment is equipped with a washing machine, dishwasher and all mod cons made it all the more attractive for them. They dined with us one evening, and were great company so we hope they might come back to us one day – they say they have every intention of returning to Spain so who knows – our list of returning guests could soon extend even further around the globe!
Guests from even further away!

As well as the family from Canada, we were delighted to welcome Gail and Karen from New Zealand, who are staying with us for a week. Karen is a hockey umpire, and had been umpiring a tournament of matches in Holland before they headed south and visited us here in sunny Spain! They decided that, having come from so far away, they wanted to see a little bit more of Europe before heading back down-under. They have been enjoying a week of relaxation around the pool, as well as going to Valencia City for the day and taking in all the sights of that wonderful town. Also, they have visited Gandía and made the most of the great market that takes place there every week. Their next stop on their “taster” of Europe will be a short visit to England to visit relatives, before going back to their lives at the other end of the planet. The weather in New Zealand at this time of year will seem a big shock compared to the fabulous sunshine and heat they have enjoyed here in Spain as well as in Holland, but at least they are going back with tans that their friends will envy!!
