Easter at Villa Florencia – Gandia’s friendliest Casa Rural!
The influx of Easter visitors started early at Villa Florencia this year, with a phone call in the small hours of Tuesday morning from Madrid enquiring about availability! A young couple were going to be spending time with their family in a holiday home in Gandia, but did not want to spend all their time there, so wondered if we had any rooms to spare. They then arrived later that same day – the Tuesday before Easter – and were joined a day later by another young Spanish couple, this time from Segovia. The male half of this second couple had stayed with us last year with some of his friends on a stag weekend, and wanted to come back with his girlfriend for a few days’ break in weather that was hopefully better than in their home town. Fortunately the weather did play along and for the duration of the holiday period was warm and sunny, so this helped to create a convivial atmosphere around the pool and in the gardens.
The following day, another young couple arrived from Valencia city for a break in the country with us, so these guests all found they had a lot on common – a desire to relax and unwind in peaceful surroundings – and they quickly all became friends in their new environment. Two holidaying friends from New Zealand – now resident in Europe – arrived for a couple of nights’ stay on the Thursday as well, although they spent most of their time exploring the area, visiting Guadalest and Xátiva castles and touring the surrounding countryside.
On Easter Saturday, another guest made a return visit – this time an English property hunter with her husband and young daughter. She had previously visited us with a friend whilst on a reconnoitre of the area, but was now returning to show her family this part of the country, and at the same time to view a couple of houses that had caught their eye. Their stay was only a very short one – just the one night – before leaving to look at other areas further north along the Costa Brava and in the Barcelona area.
Gandía town was busy and full of visitors for the holiday period, all out in the warm weather to enjoy the spectacle of the Easter parades and processions that are typical of the Spanish Easter celebrations. Unlike in some recent years the weather co-operated to make it a holiday that will be remembered for the best of reasons, rather than some of the events having to be called off at the last minute.

Sounds wonderful!! Look forward to a perfect visit of my own.
