Despedida de Soltero July 2010

A group of 16 guys arrived at the house on Friday afternoon around 7.00pm to celebrate the Despedida of one of them.  They came from Murcia – a couple of hours to the south of here – and lost no time in diving in the pool and making themselves at home.  They were all very enthusiastic about the house and the surroundings, and soon set about lighting the barbecue and preparing their evening meal.

The rest of the evening and night was spent in the gardens and cooling off in the pool, with the music playing out from the balcony terrace.  What lies in store for the rest of the weekend……watch this space!!

It was a busy weekend at Villa Florencia, with not only Dani’s birthday group staying with us, but also a full house of other guests too.  As well as family members who normally live in New Zealand visiting us, we had one of the main performers at Gandia Beach Pride for the weekend with his manager, and also a Spanish couple who had come from Madrid.  They had come in order to ‘visit’ a dog that they had spent a year ‘socialising’ as a puppy before it went to be trained as a guide dog.  After finishing his training as a guide dog, he had been matched up with a man living in Gandia, and they had come to see him at work with his new owner.

The dog came to the house with his owner to see them first, and it was wonderful to see that the dog obviously remembered them fondly after all the time that had passed.  Having been very pleasant and friendly with us at the gate, his tail looked like it was going to be wagged off in delight when he saw his visitors!  Needless to say, they were thrilled to see him, and they spent the rest of the weekend on various visits to see the dog and his new, extended ‘family’.

Other guests over the weekend and the start of the following week included a young couple looking for a relaxing stay away from the bustle of Gandia, and a lawyer from Valencia, who also just wanted to get away from the stress and rush of the city and his work.  Francisco in fact was also a guest from last year who had stayed here for a couple of days then, but, having got a taste for the place, was returning for a longer visit this time.  He really felt the benefit of his relaxing time with us, and will almost certainly be coming back for more in the near future!

Happy 30th Birthday Dani,

Six Best friends celebrate a week-end to remember

Six best friends from Madrid arrived at the beginning of the weekend to spend a few days here and to celebrate the 30th birthday of one of them – Dani.  Dani was in fact a returning guest, as he had spent a weekend here last year at the pre-wedding celebrations (a despedida) of one of his friends.  The arrived on the Friday, and although two had to return on Sunday, the rest of the group stayed until Wednesday.

Their time was typically spent most days around the pool in the mornings, followed by a lunch prepared on the barbecue, and then a siesta.  The late afternoon often meant an expedition to one of the nearby beaches (many of which have been awarded the coveted Blue Flag Award for excellence), followed by a late return to the house.  Nights were often then spent down at Playa de Gandia, with its wealth of bars and dance clubs, before a return home sometime around daybreak!

They had a really great time, and benefited from the chance to unwind in the relaxing surroundings of the area before having to return to their working lives in Madrid.  It was really good to see Dani come back to us, and bring his friends along with him.  Hopefully he will do the same thing again, and maybe even his friends will too!
